Golden Cranes Go Down to Defeat, 3-0
|
Brinkley beat Santa Barbara at Belugas Ballpark, eking out a 3-0 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Myles Wilkerson, who earned player of the game honors. Wilkerson was the winning pitcher and moves to 2-0. He threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. Picking up the save was Bob Roth, his 3rd.
Tied up with the Golden Cranes in the bottom of the fourth, the Belugas got a boost from right fielder Steve Jones. With a runner on 2nd, Jones saw a 0-2 fastball from José Ortíz and hit a run-scoring double to break the stalemate and put Brinkley on top, 1-0.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Wilkerson told the Brinkley Times.
The Golden Cranes, at 56-36, have lost 5 straight games.
