Thundercats Continue Hot Streak with Extra-Inning Win
|
The Richardson City Thundercats topped the Wizarding Express, 5-3, in 13 innings. Richardson City first baseman Tomás Martínez earned player of the game honors with his performance. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Richardson City reliever Dave Reed picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Juan Cantú was saddled with the loss. The 7th-place Thundercats have won 5 in a row.
Martínez had a game-changing at-bat for Richardson City. It came in the top of the 13th inning with no one out. Martínez hit a 2-1 sinker from Juan Cantú for a 2-run home run. It put Richardson City in front, 5-3.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Martínez told the Richardson City Daily News.
