Dodos Win, Levick belts 2 home runs
|
The Hialeah Dodos grabbed a 7-3 win over the Hamilton Coyotes at Dodos Ballpark. Hialeah catcher Errol Levick went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4 to earn player of the game honors. Miguel Álvarez was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 1 run on 2 hits, with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Olegário Pa picked up the save, his 2nd.
Vincente Rotham took Marcos Mesa deep with one out in the bottom of the first. On a 1-1 knuckleball, Rotham drilled a 2-run home run to left-center. It was his 10th home run of the season and put Hialeah on top, 2-0.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Levick, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The Dodos go to 36-48, putting them 9th in the Menard's AAA.
