Big Day by Alejándrez Sparks Patriots Win
|
Boston beat Oakland at Dunkin Donuts Park, escaping with a 9-5 win. The win in large part was due to second baseman Jorge Alejándrez, who earned player of the game honors. He was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 7 RBI and scoring once. Kirby Brown got credit for the win, improving to 5-0. He allowed no runs on 5 hits in 3.2 innings. Boston is in first place in the Premier League with a record of 26-10.
The game turned with no one out in the bottom of the sixth when Alejándrez, who is rated as the 23rd best prospect by BNN, hit a grand slam home run. It propelled the Patriots into the lead, 8-5.
"I like our mindset right now," said Boston manager Tyler Carter.
