Northern Lions BC Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Northern Lions BC grabbed a 6-2 win at Athletics Park, overcoming a fine effort from Athletic Club KC pitcher Vincent Hall. Hall went 8 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Thunder Bay reliever Andrés Martínez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Ole Kos was saddled with the loss. The Northern Lions BC raised their record to 13-22.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Terumoto Kurihara came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Athletic Club KC pitcher Ole Kos, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Thunder Bay on top, 3-2.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Scott Williams, the Thunder Bay skipper.
