Álvarez Lifts Supernovas to 7-5 Win
|
Behind a solid performance from right fielder Martín Álvarez, the Scranton Supernovas defeated the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 7-5. Álvarez was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Supernovas. The Supernovas raised their record to 28-41.
Chris Fries dealt the Golden Cranes a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Scranton trailing 4-1, Fries, who is tied for 6th in the 3AAA in RBI with 44, hit a first pitch curveball for a run-scoring single.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Álvarez, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
