Doubledays Stick Coyotes with 7-1 Loss
|
Tremont played host to Hamilton at the friendly confines of Doubledays Stadium.
The Tremont Doubledays turned back the Hamilton Coyotes, 7-1, at Doubledays Stadium. Menno van de Vlugt was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Mathieu Neri, who threw 111 pitches over 6.1 innings. The left-hander was charged with 1 run on 7 hits.
van de Vlugt came through with some timely hitting for Tremont. With the score 1-0 in the bottom of the second and two down, van de Vlugt hit a first pitch fastball for a grand slam home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season -- and a big reason the Doubledays managed to win.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," van de Vlugt told the Tremont Citizen.
Tremont is 6th in the Menard's AAA with a record of 33-32.
