Oaks Prevail, 7-6, Over Thunder Bay
|
The Oakland Oaks defeated the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, 7-6, in Premier League action at Oakland Coliseum. Edwin Church received player of the game honors. The 8-year veteran was 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Oakland reliever Júlio Saldaña was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Tyler MacHugh took the loss. Gil Brown got credit for the save for Oakland. It was his 4th of the year.
Carlos Sánchez provided some late-game heroics for Oakland. In the bottom of the eighth inning, he hit a run-scoring double. It came on a first pitch fastball from Tyler MacHugh and propelled Oakland to a 7-6 lead.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Oakland manager DAshley GoAs.
Oakland now sits at 18-14, while Thunder Bay falls to 11-21.
