Big Day at the Plate for Lizardo Not Enough
|
It was a fun time at Spirits Stadium, where the Florida Men and Salt Lake City Buzz tangled.
Florida got a terrific game from designated hitter Bastyão Lizardo. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Salt Lake City, 10-9. Lizardo was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Roberto De La Cruz picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 0. On the season, he is now 5-2. Jim Unknown was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Fox Farm-College, Wyoming-born Randy Schlosser came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd and the Buzz trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run triple to right to put Salt Lake City on top.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Schlosser, "but we got it done."
Salt Lake City leads the Menard's AAA by 6 games.
