Calderón Twirls a Gem for Bloomington
|
Bloomington Longnecks starter Roberto Calderón was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Scranton Supernovas, 5-1. The Longnecks are now 16-20, while the Supernovas fall to 12-24.
Calderón, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited performance. The hurler struck out 9 in 8.1 innings and gave up 1 earned run. Calderón, who is tied for 10th in the 3AAA with a 1.26 WHIP, raised his record to 3-3 on the year with 52 strikeouts.
"The clubhouse can get pretty insufferable after we lose, so I'm glad we pulled this one out today," Calderón told the Bloomington Herald.
