Supernovas Defeat Belugas, 9-6
|
Behind a solid performance from catcher Chris Fries, the Scranton Supernovas defeated the Brinkley Belugas, 9-6. Fries went 2-3 with a home run, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Supernovas. Scranton starter Luis Zaragoza was credited with the win after throwing 114 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 2-3. Scranton, now 9-20, holds 11th place in the Menard's AAA.
Had it not been for Phillip Tinker, the results might have been different. In the top of the seventh inning, when the Supernovas were trailing 6-5, Tinker hit a grand slam home run for Scranton, giving his team the lead.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Fries, "but we got it done."
