Nieves Powers Belugas to 10-3 Win
|
The Brinkley Belugas knocked off the Bloomington Longnecks, 10-3, at Lookouts Ballpark. Mario Nieves, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Brinkley won. The first baseman went 3-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The Belugas improved to 11-13.
One important at-bat came with the bases empty in the top of the fourth, when Nieves hit a triple. The Belugas went on to win.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Nieves.
