Álvarez Hits 3 home runs in Golden Cranes Win
|
Santa Barbara played host to Naperville at the friendly confines of Crane Field.
The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes beat the Naperville Battlekings, 10-1, at Crane Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Sixto Álvarez, who captured player of the game honors. He slugged 3 home runs, while adding 8 RBI and scoring three times. The winner was Marvin Mangin, who threw 107 pitches over 7 innings. The left-hander was charged with 1 run on 5 hits.
The game turned with one out in the bottom of the fifth when Álvarez, who is tied for 2nd in the 3AAA in total bases with 50, hit a grand slam home run. It propelled the Golden Cranes into the lead, 5-1.
"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Naperville manager Bobby Robinson. "We got flat-out beat."
With the victory, the Golden Cranes record now stands at 18-5.
