Red Knights Take Tight Tilt
|
Capital District starter Juan Montoya had a strong outing against the New Amsterdam Dutchmen at Dutch Master Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. Montoya, now 3-5, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Miguel Toro earned the save for Capital District, his 8th of the year.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the fourth, with the game tied, Danilo Mosca was at the plate when Capital District scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Red Knights to go in front, 2-1.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Mosca said after the game.
Capital District, at 12-22, occupies 11th place in the Third League.
