Divided Clip Rainbow Mermaids in Tight Contest
Northern Virginia got a terrific performance from designated hitter Preston Witt, but it wasn't enough to beat the D.C. Divided. D.C. won the Atlantica contest, 7-4. Witt was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Gabriel Hidalgo got the save, his 21st in 22 chances. The Divided own a robust 58-48 mark.

Charles Mathes's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a sinker from Ilie Paunescu for a 3-run home run. It put D.C. in front, 7-4.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Mathes, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
