Rainbow Mermaids Win Again, Extend Streak to 6
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids picked up a win at The Cattle Pen, knocking off the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, 5-4. Starting pitcher Arnie Pittman played a key role in the triumph. Pittman went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 7-5. The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids have an impressive 64-37 record.
The Rainbow Mermaids got a big at-bat from Roberto Sánchez. For the game, Sánchez went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 105th hit of the season gave Northern Virginia a 1-0 lead.
"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager David Lenlister.
