Nuggets Lose, 4-2, at The Cattle Pen
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen did just enough to secure a 4-2 victory over the Rocky Mountain Nuggets at The Cattle Pen. Nobody did more than pitcher Nicholas Wells, who captured player of the game honors. In 7.1 innings, Wells surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Asher Spivey earned his 23rd save in 27 tries.

In the bottom of the 6th, catcher Tim Burney gave Ft. Worth the lead when he hit a 3-run home run. The Cattlemen had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out home run off Rocky Mountain pitcher Juan Guillén changed that -- and Ft. Worth went on to win.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Ft. Worth manager Scott Thompson. "Our pregame was pretty good."

The Cattlemen improve their record to 45-52 with the win over Rocky Mountain.
