5-for-6 Day for Vargas Thursday, July 16th, 2026 Jesús Vargas exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Virginia Beach Grounds. The Westwood center fielder had a field day in the 7-5 triumph over the Virginia Beach Deuces, finishing 5-for-6. "My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Vargas must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Jesús Vargas singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, struck out in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
