Ottawa Snaps Jelarde's Streak at 21
Monday, August 31st, 2026
Virginia Beach left fielder Luis Jelarde experienced something against the Ottawa Nationals he hadn't experienced in his last 21 games: a hitless game. The Nationals pitching corps quieted his hot bat and snapped his streak, but his teammates picked up the slack to lead the Deuces to a 13-1 victory at Nationals Park.

"Hey, ain't nothin' bad about a losing a 21-game hitting streak. Now you sportswriters will have to find someone else to bother for stories," Jelarde kiddingly told them after the game.

Currently Jelarde is hitting .287 and has collected 18 home runs, 48 RBIs and scored 41 times, while playing in 71 games.
