Alejándrez and Fernández Suspended 2 Games For Brawl Sunday, August 2nd, 2026 Jorge Alejándrez of the Bakersfield Nobles was not happy with Octávio Fernández, and his frustration showed when he went after the Calgary player during yesterday's game at Jerome Grounds. Both benches cleared as they rushed to the aid of their teammates. Order was soon restored as Alejándrez and Fernández were pulled away from each other. They were ejected from the game. Both players were suspended 2 games by the league office as a result of their tussle. "It's something that happens in baseball every once in a while," Alejándrez commented later. "We get frustrated with another player and sometimes things go too far. We'll both take our suspensions and then come back ready to play. I got no hard feelings." In 30 games this season Alejándrez has compiled a .373 batting average with 44 hits and 5 home runs. He has also scored 25 times and knocked in 26 runs. In 8 starts this year Fernández has recorded a 2-3 record and a 4.12 ERA. |
