The change up was working. In an unforgettable performance, the 21-year-old Vázquez fanned 16 Hotspur U-21 and sparked the Mancelona Torch to a 3-1 victory over Phoenix. He left Hotspur U-21 hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it. "I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Mancelona manager George Willis. "His location and command were really something." In addition to collecting 16 strikeouts over 8 innings, Johnson allowed 3 hits and 2 walks in a superlative outing. "I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Vázquez said with a smile.
