Santiago Too Tough, Blanks Louisiana
Thursday, June 4th, 2026
"I hope we miss him next time," the Louisiana manager said. "Santiago certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
Phoenix starter José Santiago tamed the Louisiana Dragoons 5-0 with a 4-hit shutout, finishing the game with 11 strikeouts and no walks in a sharp outing.
"I enjoy facing a team like that where I can get an out on one, two or three pitches," Santiago said. "It gives me a chance to be a lot more aggressive."
So far in 7 appearances this season, Santiago has recorded 3 wins and sustained 2 losses. He has pitched 42.2 innings, yielded 37 hits, fanned 51 and has a 2.95 ERA.
