League Suspends Grand Forks SS Altagracia
Tuesday, August 18th, 2026
There was a hostile encounter between Kel Altagracia and the men in blue in yesterday's Grand Forks-Myrtle Beach game. The Caterpillars shortstop was tossed for arguing a called third strike. Actually he did a little more than just complain about the call -- he got in the umpire's face and had to be restrained by his manager.
"I don't think I did anything to deserve to be thrown out of the game in the first place, never mind be suspended," Altagracia stated. "That's unbelievable. I still don't know why he threw me out of the game. I didn't charge over there until after he gave me the heave-ho."
The league office did not agree with his assessment of the confrontation and suspended Altagracia for 2 games.
This year Altagracia is hitting .241 with 4 home runs and 27 RBIs in 67 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .305 with 19 walks and 19 runs scored.
