1837 BBC Get One-Run Win at Northern Virginia
|
Ballpark of Northern Virginia was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Houston 1837 BBC and the Northern Virginia Retrievers.
The exploits of designated hitter Bob Dickerson, who is on pace for 68 RBI this season, helped the Houston 1837 BBC defeat the Northern Virginia Retrievers, 6-2. Dickerson was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Collin Hill was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 1 run on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.
Dickerson came through with some timely hitting for Houston. With the score 1-0 in the top of the first and no one down, Dickerson hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring double. It was his 14th double of the season -- and a big reason the 1837 BBC managed to win.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Northern Virginia manager David Lenlister.
The Retrievers, at 45-45, have lost 5 straight games.
