Patriots Clip Renaissance in Tight Contest
|
The Patriots had to overcome a good performance from Detroit pitcher Alejandro Arteaga to claim a 5-3 win at Detroit Field. Arteaga went 7.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Boston reliever Jesús Caldero picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Lyle Lanley absorbed the loss. The Boston Patriots, now 13-7, have been red hot.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With two out, Brent Ryan hit a 0-1 fastball from Lyle Lanley for a 2-run single. It put Boston in front, 5-3.
"If we keep winning the close games" said Ryan, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
