Middies Win Thriller, 11-10
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder Ramón Gómez, the Grafton Middies defeated the Houston 1837 BBC, 11-10. Gómez was 4-4 with a triple, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Middies. The Middies improved to 43-43.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Gómez hit a fastball from Francisco Valdés for a run-scoring single. The Middies, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Gómez said.
