Northern Lions BC Cut Down Retrievers, 5-2
|
Thunder Bay pitcher Rafael Cardona did his part in helping his team beat the Northern Virginia Retrievers, 5-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Cardona went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 8-3. Júlio Palma converted his 3rd save in 4 tries.
Flexing his muscles for Thunder Bay was Wilfred McLaughlin. The right fielder had a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth for the Northern Lions BC. It put his team ahead, 3-1, and sent them on to victory. For the game, McLaughlin went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Cardona said.
The Northern Lions BC go to 50-34, putting them first in the Division II.
