Walker goes 3-for-4 as Bowties Squeeze Past Houston
|
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Mysterious Walker, the Buckhead Bowties defeated the Houston 1837 BBC, 5-4. Walker was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Bowties. Joshua Long got credit for the win, improving to 2-4. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Kyle Buckman, credited with the save, is now 6 for 7 in save opportunities.
In the bottom of the 8th, pinch hitter Joe Andrews gave Buckhead the lead when he hit a 2-run home run. The Bowties had been trailing 4-3, but the two-out home run off Houston pitcher Edison Larson changed that -- and Buckhead went on to win.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Andrews told the Buckhead News.
The 1837 BBC, now 33-46, have lost 7 straight.
