Middies Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras

Both teams had their chances, but the Grafton Middies eventually prevailed at Field of the Middies.
Grafton Middies starter Wayne Hurst turned in a top-notch performance against the Northern Virginia Retrievers at Field of the Middies. The result was a win for the Middies, 3-2. Grafton has 3 straight wins, Northern Virginia 3 straight losses.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th. That's when Grafton third baseman Stefano Gaddi, facing Ilie Paunescu, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Middies the 3-2 win.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Northern Virginia manager David Lenlister.
