Austin turned a good effort from starter Juan Valéncia into a win over the Northern Virginia Retrievers at Ballpark of Northern Virginia. The final score was 5-1. Valéncia was the winning pitcher and moves to 5-3. He threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up no walks. Earning his 1st save of the year was Albert Emery.
Also having an impact was designated hitter Jesús Reyes, who stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the first for Austin. For the game, Reyes was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Reyes said after the game.
With the win, the Rangers improved to 43-35.
