Retrievers Lose to Rangers, 4-1
|
Benefiting from the performance of Count Dante, the Austin Rangers defeated the Northern Virginia Retrievers, 4-1. Dante was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Rangers. Austin reliever Ernest Torres picked up the win to move to 2-5. Doug Green suffered the loss. Júlio Rodríguez nailed down his 15th save.
Dante had a game-changing home run in the top of the fourth. On a full count curveball from Doug Green, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Rangers a 2-0 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Dante.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Dante said (again).
The Rangers now have a record of 42-35.
