Retrievers Lose to Northern Lions BC, 8-3
|
Thunder Bay catcher Carlos Padilla was a significant contributor in his team's 8-3 triumph over the Northern Virginia Retrievers. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for Thunder Bay. Ramón Molina was the winner. Over 5 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 3 strikeouts. Getting the save was Brandon Bannatyne, his 2nd.
Hayward, California-born David Smith came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st and the Northern Lions BC trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run home run to right to put Thunder Bay on top.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Northern Virginia manager David Lenlister. "The effort was great."
Thunder Bay is now 41-26, 3˝ games up in the Division II.
