Northern Lions BC Topple 1837 BBC with Late Rally
|
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC beat the Houston 1837 BBC, 5-4, at Great Northern Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Bronson Nicholls, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Thunder Bay reliever Júlio Palma picked up the win to move to 3-0. Francisco García suffered the loss. Thunder Bay improves to 38-22 with the win. They lead their division by 5 games.
Late in the game, first baseman John Brewer had a big at-bat for Thunder Bay. In the bottom of the eighth, he hit a run-scoring double off Tyler Rodríguez. The play gave the Northern Lions BC a 5-4 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Nicholls told the Thunder Bay Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
