Hotspur Jolt Retrievers with Late Rally
|
The Phoenix Hotspur topped the Northern Virginia Retrievers, 5-3, in Silver League action at Ballpark of Northern Virginia. The player of the game was Phoenix pitcher and Holguín, Cuba native Javier Mora. Edgar Capello earned the save, his 11th, for the Hotspur. The Hotspur sit in second place in the Division II with a record of 31-27.
It could have been a different outcome for Phoenix, had it not been for Pedro Gómez, the 22-year old shortstop . Gómez contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Phoenix up, 4-3.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Gómez.
