The Houston 1837 BBC bested the Northern Virginia Retrievers, 9-4, at Ballpark of Northern Virginia. Luis Tapia was named player of the game. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Phil Miles earned the win for Houston. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 1-1. Tyler Rodríguez recorded his 2nd save for Houston.
Houston grabbed the momentum in the top of the seventh, when Tapia hit a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run put the 1837 BBC out in front, 6-4.
Tapia said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.
