Multi-HR Day for Downing as Stingers Overpower Rangers, 12-8
The Toledo Stingers beat the Austin Rangers, 12-8, at Rangers Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter John Downing, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. The winner was Manny Caraballo, who threw 83 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 7 runs on 7 hits. Manny Amici earned the save for Toledo, his 1st of the year.

In the top of the first inning, shortstop Anthony Johnston came through big-time for the Stingers. With Toledo leading 2-0, he belted a 2-run home run.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager TJ Reynolds said.

At 22-22, the Stingers find themselves in 5th place in the Division II.
