Victory Pushes Stingers Record to 21-20
|
The Toledo Stingers defeated the Grafton Middies, 4-3. Earning player of the game honors was second baseman Mike Burns, who was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Eddie Kop picked up the win with 7.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 9 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 4-4. Brandeis Vogt earned the save for Toledo, his 10th of the year.
In the bottom of the 3rd, the Stingers grabbed the lead on a two-out home run by John Downing. Toledo at the time was trailing 1-0, but Downing's 2-run home run off Allen Yohemas put his team in front.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Toledo manager TJ Reynolds.
Toledo goes to 21-20, Grafton to 18-23.
