Austin played host to Grafton at the friendly confines of Rangers Stadium.
The Austin Rangers scored a 5-4 win versus the Grafton Middies at Rangers Stadium. Austin pitcher John Wilkins nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Austin reliever Josh Cox was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Robbie Baxter took the loss for Grafton. Júlio Rodríguez picked up the save for Austin, his 7th of the year.
Austin took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases empty, José Muńóz stroked a solo home run to make it 5-4, Rangers.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Wilkins said.
With the win, the Rangers improved to 18-17.
