Retrievers Defeat Stingers, 5-2

In a tight contest at Pacesetter Park, the Northern Virginia Retrievers edged the Toledo Stingers by the score of 5-2. The Northern Virginia Retrievers' first baseman Marlon Randall, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Yin-fat Foong earned the win to go to 3-1. He allowed 2 earned runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Northern Virginia, at 17-16, sits in 5th place in the Division II.
With runs few and far between, the Retrievers had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Northern Virginia came in the top of the fourth. That's when right fielder Cole Thrash delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Eddie Kop and made the score 3-2, Retrievers. Thrash went 2 for 5 with 2 singles.
