The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC got a stellar effort from pitcher Rafael Cardona, helped Thunder Bay score a 3-2 win over the visiting Grafton Middies. Thunder Bay reliever Bill Lee picked up the win to move to 1-0. Allen Yohemas suffered the loss. The save went to Jorge Castillo, his 12th this season.

Keith Fish went 1-4 for Thunder Bay. The 25-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. That's when he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Allen Yohemas. It was his 37th hit of the season.

"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Thunder Bay manager Scott Williams.

Thunder Bay has now reeled off 6 straight wins.
