Cattlemen Lose to Bowties, 9-2
|
Buckhead beat Ft. Worth, 9-2. The win in part was due to second baseman Raúl Ruíz, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Buckhead is in last place in the Division II with a record of 10-16.
Ruíz came through with some timely hitting for Buckhead. With the score 3-2 in the top of the seventh and one down, Ruíz hit a 2-0 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was his 20th hit of the season -- and a big reason the Bowties managed to win.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Ruíz, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
