The Houston 1837 BBC got a stellar performance from pitcher Marvin Martin, who handcuffed the Grafton offense en route to a 4-1 win at Field of the Middies. Francisco Valdés locked down his 7th save. After today's action, Houston sits at 11-12, while Grafton falls to 11-12.

Tied up with the Middies in the top of the fifth, the 1837 BBC got a boost from center fielder Mike Hanson. With the bases loaded, Hanson saw a 1-1 cutter from Wayne Hurst and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Houston on top, 2-1.

"I thought we played a nice game," Martin told the Houston Daily News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
