Late Rally by River Rats Seals 5th Straight Win
|
The River Rats had to overcome a fine performance from South Beach pitcher Piotr Oja to grab a 3-2 win at Columbia Stadium. Oja went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. The win was credited to Toshiharu Kuhabara in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Reid Garrett took the loss. Jim Unknown recorded his 1st save for Columbia.
Enrique Correa drove in one run for Columbia. In the bottom of the eighth, with the teams deadlocked, 2-2, Correa delivered for the River Rats. His run-scoring sacrifice fly put Columbia on top, 3-2.
"I like how we're playing right now," said Correa.
The Blaze, now 46-47, have lost 4 in a row.
