The Nebraska Plainsmen topped the Columbia River Rats, 4-3, in USPL Single A action at Plain Old Stadium. The player of the game was Nebraska pitcher and Homer City, Pennsylvania native Sam Groves. Nebraska now owns a record of 40-40.

Ralph Cranford was the walk-off hero for Nebraska. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Nebraska center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"I like what I saw today," said Nebraska manager Bill Russell, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
