The Northern Virginia Retrievers racked up a win at Chase Field, bumping off the Phoenix Hotspur, 3-2. Aurelio López, who started for Northern Virginia, pitched effectively for his team. The Hotspur fall to 10-11 and continue their uneasy start to the 2026 season.
Also playing a key role was Chris Etheridge. The Northern Virginia shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the second. For the game, Etheridge was 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Northern Virginia Retrievers manager David Lenlister. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
