Walleye Walk Off with 2-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Walla Walla Walleye and the Columbia River Rats, pitcher Won-min Yi was at the top of his game. The Walla Walla left-hander was named the player of the game in Walla Walla's 2-1 win. Walla Walla reliever Juan Deliz was the winner. His record is now 3-2. The losing pitcher was Jim Unknown. At 41-24, the Walleye have a slim two-game lead in the Premier A.
Late in the game, left fielder Ted Striker had a big at-bat for Walla Walla. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single off Jim Unknown. The play gave the Walleye a 2-1 lead.
"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Striker.
