A nice crowd turned out to see the Columbia River Rats and South Beach Blaze clash at The Ballpark on the Beach.

Getting an impressive start from Chris Plummerton, Columbia beat South Beach by the score of 4-1. Columbia has run its win streak to 4 in a row.

A critical at-bat came in the top of the seventh inning when the River Rats sent 21-year-old center fielder Mario Jacome to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and reached on an error by the left fielder, driving in 1 run, to put Columbia on top, 3-1.

"This is a very good team," said Jacome. "We have the chance to do something special."
