The Yellowknife Dragonblood picked up a win at The Dragon Den, knocking off the South Beach Blaze, 4-1. Starting pitcher Doug Freeth, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Yellowknife reliever Manuel Torres was the winner. His record is now 9-3. Gob Bluth took the loss. Earning his 8th save of the year was Víctor Solís.
Andrés Escobar was a key contributor to the win for the Dragonblood. In the bottom of the eighth with no one out, the light-hitting center fielder stroked a single to center. He went 1-4.
"I like what I saw today," said Yellowknife manager Dan Joseph, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
Yellowknife is now riding a 3-game win streak.
