Plainsmen Use Late-Game Magic to Beat River Rats
The Plainsmen had to overcome a fine effort from Columbia pitcher José Pueblo to grab a 2-1 win at Columbia Stadium. Pueblo went 8 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Nebraska reliever Alejandro Morín picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. José Pueblo was saddled with the loss. The 4th-place Plainsmen lifted their record to 22-22.

A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the eighth inning when the Plainsmen sent teenager Gilberto Moreno to the plate against River Rats hurler José Pueblo. With a runner on 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 2-2 curveball to score 1.

"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Moreno.
