Hogsmeade had no answer for Nebraska Plainsmen starter Sam Groves, who flummoxed Cauldrons hitters as the Plainsmen cruised to a 7-1 victory. Groves, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 4, and allowing 1 earned run. With the loss, Hogsmeade drops to 7-11.

A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the second inning when the Plainsmen sent teenager Josh Platt to the plate against Cauldrons hurler Fernando Villarreal. With runners on 1st and 3rd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a triple off a 2-1 slider to score 2.
